Wednesday, May 21, 2014

The 2014 Congress of the European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) is now in full swing in Toulouse. Over 500 delegates from unions around Europe are gathered for four days in Toulouse, representing over 8 million public service workers. Yesterday, the congress was opened with a vibrant opening ceremony that reflected both the diversity of Europe and the individuality of the host city. This was followed by a key-note speech from Bernadette Ségol, General Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation.

Carola Fischbach-Pyttel, General Secretary of EPSU, gave a report of EPSU’s activities over the last five years highlighting successes in European social dialogue and the European Citizens’ Initiative Right2Water as well as emphasising the on going struggle against austerity.
